This song is always a reminder of the Las Vegas I once knew and is long gone. And while the new version has some amazing architecture, I still miss the old place, too. I miss the Neon that was replaced with video screens - I miss the table games as they were back then - instead of shoved away for more and more and more slot machines. I miss breakfast at the Flame and the wickedest Bloody Mary's on the planet. I miss the shows when they weren't concerts in an auditorium. It's something hard to describe - you had to have been there to experience the difference.

The song and the movie brings back many memories of the Sands, the Desert Inn, the Dunes, the Frontier, the Flamingo. The Silver Slipper and it's lucrative single deck blackjack, downtown and the Golden Nugget -and all the others. Now it's more like Disneyland. I don't gamble anymore, I mostly look over the "city in themselves" hotels and stand amazed at the construction. Coming from a big construction environment, they are fascinating when observed with a engineer's eye.
